How do You Measure a Hydraulic Throwout Bearing?

Before you begin measuring a hydraulic throwout bearing, there are a few things you should be aware of.

First, ensure that the slave cylinder is completely compressed.

After that, take a straight edge and measure the distance from the bearing to the transmission’s face plate.

If the distance is greater than.100 inches, the throwout bearing may need to be shimming.

Finally, ensure that you have the proper tools and are aware of safety precautions.

The right tool will make it easier to measure the clearance.

You’ll take your measurements from the center of the bell housing opening to the outer edge of the clutch finger.

If you don’t measure correctly, you’ll have to move the bearing closer to the transmission, making shifting and stopping the clutch more difficult.

To avoid a premature clutch failure, make sure your throwout bearing clearance is set correctly.

If you set it too tight, the clutch will wear out prematurely, resulting in a damaged or worn clutch.

Orient has created an easy-to-follow video guide to ensure proper throwout bearing clearance.

This guide will walk you through the process of installing your hydraulic clutch.

This video demonstrates how to measure and adjust the throwout bearing.

Install the pressure plate and clutch on the engine before measuring the shims on a bearing.

After that, replace the transmission bearing retainer bolt with a stud provided by the company.

The bearing should then be slid onto the transmission.

If there is no stud between the bearing and the clutch fingers, the o-ring must be lubricated with brake fluid.

After you’ve installed all of these components, you can start measuring the hydraulic clutch fork.

Check that the spring is correctly angled toward the motor.

The clutch and pressure plate should then be installed.

Attach the flywheel to the bellhousing.

After you’ve installed the bellhousing, run a straight edge across the center of the opening.

Measure the diaphragm’s resting depth with a measuring tape.

You must take three measurements.

To ensure that you get accurate readings, measure the diaphragm in at least three places.

Installing a new hydraulic clutch release bearing can save engine compartment space while also simplifying the clutch release system.

Simply follow the instructions and re-read them if you don’t understand something.

Once you’ve figured out the steps, installation should only take a few hours.

If you’re not sure how to do something, watch a video tutorial or follow a step-by-step guide.
