Manual gear clutch release bearing is a key component in the automotive manual transmission system, which plays a vital role in the clutch engagement and disengagement process. The following is a detailed introduction of manual gear clutch release bearing:

I. Definition and position

Definition: manual gear clutch release bearing, also known as clutch release bearing, is a bearing installed between the clutch and transmission. Its main function is to eliminate the heat and resistance generated by the direct friction between the clutch fork and the high-speed rotating clutch pressure plate to ensure the smooth engagement and disengagement of the clutch.

Position: The release bearing seat is loosely fitted on the tubular extension of the bearing cover of the first shaft of the transmission, and the convex shoulder of the release bearing is always pressed against the release fork through the return spring and backed up to the last position, keeping a certain clearance (usually 3~4mm) with the end of the release lever (release finger).

Structure and Composition

Manual gear clutch release bearing is a compact device consisting of several basic components, the main parts include:

Outer ring: the fixed part of the bearing, attached to the clutch fork.

Inner ring: the part that rotates with the clutch diaphragm spring.

Rolling elements: usually balls or rollers that contribute to the smooth rotation between the inner and outer rings.

Cage: Keeps the rolling elements in place and prevents them from colliding with each other during operation.

Contact surface: the point of contact between the bearing and the diaphragm spring finger, usually coated with a layer of high temperature grease to reduce friction and wear.

Third, the clutch release bearing working principle

When the driver depresses the clutch pedal, hydraulic pressure is generated in the clutch master cylinder, which transmits the pressure to the clutch slave cylinder. The clutch slave cylinder activates the clutch release bearing in turn, causing it to move towards the diaphragm spring. The diaphragm spring moves backwards under pressure, releasing the clamping force on the pressure plate and lifting it off the clutch disc. In this way, the clutch disc is disengaged from the connection with the engine, cutting off the power output from the crankshaft and realising the separation of the clutch.

Fourth, the clutch release bearing function and role

1. Promote smooth shifting: the clutch release bearing ensures that the clutch can be engaged smoothly and disengaged softly, so as to achieve a smooth shifting process.

2. Reducing wear and tear: by eliminating the heat and resistance generated by direct friction, the release bearing helps to reduce the wear and tear of the clutch components and prolong their service life.

3. Improve transmission efficiency: when the clutch is engaged, the release bearing ensures that the power can be efficiently transferred from the engine to the transmission.

V. Clutch Release Bearing Common Problems and Maintenance

Common Problems:

Damage to the release bearing: usually manifested as effort to step on the clutch, unstable clutch, strange noise and other problems.

Insufficient lubrication: after a long time of use, the grease may dissolve and be thrown off, causing the release bearing to dry friction and generate heat and ablation.

Maintenance method:

Regular inspection: during routine vehicle maintenance, the wear and lubrication of the separation bearing should be checked regularly.

Lubrication Maintenance: periodically or during annual inspection maintenance, use the steaming method to allow the grease to saturate the release bearing to ensure it is adequately lubricated.

Adjustment of free travel: Ensure that the free travel on the clutch pedal meets the requirements (usually 30-40mm) to prevent the free travel from being too large or too small resulting in damage to the release bearing.

Manual gear clutch release bearing is an important part in the automobile manual transmission system, and its performance directly affects the clutch engagement and separation effect as well as the driving performance of the vehicle. Therefore, attention should be paid to regular inspection and maintenance of the release bearing in the process of use to ensure that it is in good working condition.
