Before you begin, be sure to remove the cable and clutch pin. If you can, re-use the gasket. Don’t drain the clutch oil. Most of it will be in the pan beneath the clutch basket. To make the process easier, place a side stand underneath the car. It’s easy to remove the clutch plate cover assembly. You’ll need to align the clutch pin to fit the clutch basket.
How to remove a clutch cover
First, remove the air box. The air box has three parts: the outside cover, a middle piece and the back piece. There are four visible bolts that hold the outside cover to the middle piece. Disconnect the clutch cable from the lever and rod at the bottom of the cover clutch. If the engine oil filter is damaged, replace it. If not, the clutch cover can be reinstalled using the reverse procedure.
Before removing the cover clutch, remove the alternator cover. Depending on the model, you may need to remove the external oil line. Once the external oil line is removed of the clutch cover. You may also want to soak the clutch cover for a few hours. It isn’t necessary to unscrew the cover nut to replace the clutch plates.
Once you have removed the clutch cover, you need to unscrew the four 9mm bolts holding the alternator to the clutch lever. Torque the bolts properly. The cover clutch can be reinstalled in the same manner. If you’ve removed the cover, you can now remove the clutch lever. Keeping the clutch lever loose while removing the clutch cover is the key to removing it successfully.
