The main function of the release bearing is to push or release the clutch pressure plate when the driver operates the clutch pedal, so as to achieve the disconnection and engagement of the power transmission between the engine and the transmission.

The clutch release bearing plays a vital role in the manual transmission system, and its main roles include:

2.1 Realising clutch release and engagement

Power cut-off: when the driver depresses the clutch pedal, the release bearing is pushed to separate the clutch pressure plate from the clutch disc, thus disconnecting the power connection between the engine and the gearbox and allowing the gear to be shifted or the vehicle to be started.

Power engagement: when the driver releases the clutch pedal, the release bearing is withdrawn from the thrust, and the spring or other restoring force causes the clutch pressure disc to press the clutch disc again, resuming power transmission.

2.2 Ensure smooth gearshift

Reducing friction and wear: the design of the release bearing allows it to reduce friction and wear when pushing and pulling the clutch pressure plate, extending the service life of the clutch system.

Dynamic adjustment: The release bearing allows the necessary axial movement of the clutch pressure plate and release lever during rotation, ensuring a tight fit when the clutch is engaged and complete separation when it is disengaged.

Carrying and guiding: the release bearing, while bearing the axial force, plays a guiding role to ensure the precise operation of the release mechanism.

2.3 Improvement of gearshift smoothness

Smooth gearshift: the release bearing ensures smooth separation and engagement between the clutch disc and flywheel, which improves the smoothness of the gearshift and reduces the feeling of impact when driving.

 Third, the working principle of clutch release bearing

The specific steps of the working principle of clutch release bearing are as follows:

1. depress the clutch pedal: when the driver depresses the clutch pedal, the clutch master pump generates hydraulic pressure, which is transmitted to the clutch release bearing through the clutch sub-pump. 2. push the release bearing: the release bearing is driven by the clutch master pump, which can reduce the clutch wear and heat, thus reducing the service life of the clutch.

2. Push the release bearing: The release bearing moves towards the diaphragm spring after being pressurised, pushing the diaphragm spring backwards. This movement releases the clamping force on the pressure plate, causing the pressure plate to lift off the clutch disc, thus disconnecting the clutch and no more engine power is transmitted to the transmission.

3. Release the clutch pedal: when the driver releases the clutch pedal, the hydraulic pressure disappears, the spring will clutch pressure plate and the friction plate re-united, the engine power is once again transmitted to the transmission, the vehicle can continue to drive.
